Actual weight versus volumetric weight
Sometimes, it is possible to ship large items with light total weight based on the space they occupy aboard the aircraft. In these cases, volumetric weight, also known as dimensional weight, is used to calculate the shipping cost. It is recommended to calculate the volumetric weight for each shipment you send, then compare it to its actual weight. The greater of the two weights is used to determine the price we charge you. International volumetric weights are calculated using the following formula: (Length x Width x Height in centimeters) / 5000 = Volumetric Weight in kilograms.
